This workshop is ideal for parents of primary school students who are interested to know more about Singapore Mathematics. This curriculum is a unique approach to learning mathematics the Singapore way.

Students do not just learn basic numeracy skills but are guided by their teachers to master a variety of concepts also known as heuristics or strategies at each level of primary school. The sequence of topics and heuristics taught has been carefully constructed based on child development theory. Singapore Mathematics has been a success as shown by consistent top ranking in international assessments.

In this 1.5 hour workshop, parents will be introduced to the Concrete-Pictorial-Abstract (CPA) method of learning mathematics and heuristics such as bar-modelling and patterning. Parents will learn practical ways to help their children with Mathematics at home through a hands-on approach in problem-solving using skills they learn in this workshop.
