Topics Synopsis:

  • The Internet of Things and why it Matters to You

In the era of Internet of Things, it is a time of excitement and connectivity, and a future promising to be bigger than it already is. However, the Internet of Things can also be scary and invasive. What is it? How will it impact our daily lives? How will it help or harm me? Should I be worried? As we embrace technology, we need to be equipped with the knowledge to navigate this growing field and be able protect our information, privacy and our identity.

  • The Use of Rewards and Power Assertive

Children often do not complete the simple day-to-day tasks that they are asked to do. As a result, family life may become difficult or disrupted. Often when children do what parents ask, parents leave them alone. But good behaviour can fade away if it never gets any attention or a reward. Parents can use rewards to help children increase desired behaviours and decrease unwanted behaviours.

Power assertive is a discipline style that involves adult behaviour like spanking, withdrawal of privileges and threats of punishment or physical harm. Children respond to an adult’s request out of fear rather than respect. Consequently, children’s motivations for appropriate behaviour are external; when they will probably not be caught, they are likely to engage in inappropriate behaviour.
